DISTRIBUTION:

Eumorpha vitis fuscatus flies in
St. Lucia, the specimen type locality, and in
Guadeloupe, and
Martinique. Marie-Galante, St-Bartholomew (Pinchon, Chalumeau, Delplanque), Les Saintes: Terre-de-Bas, St-Martin.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Eumorpha vitis fuscatus adults are on the wing from throughout the year except January. Peaks flights seem to be May-July. Tony James reports an October flight in southwestern St. Lucia.
Eumorpha vitis fuscatus larvae feed upon on Vitaceae (Vitis spp., Cissus spp.)

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Pupae wiggle to surface just prior to eclosion. Females call at night, and males fly into the wind to pick up and track the pheromone plume.
