Hyles lineata

Karen Perizzolo sent me these pictures of Hyles lineata.

Karen found a larva and placed it in an ant "cage" so that pupation could be observed beneath the soil. Here the view is of a pre-emergent pupa, July 12, three days prior to eclosion. You are viewing the pupa through the glass of the cage.
