CATE: "Similar to Orecta lycidas but darker and more strongly marked. Forewing and hindwing upperside markings chocolate brown
(in Orecta lycidas, light brown (forewing) or reddish-brown (hindwing).
Male: Median dorsal line and posterior margins of abdominal segments dark brown; paler underneath.
34 mm. Underside yellow
Forewing outer margin slightly crenulated; upperside largely chocolate brown with khaki areas along the basal half of the costa, a triangular spot at the apex
and a submarginal area toward the tornus between M3 and CuA2; distinct dark brown marginal band extending from apex to tornus, widest
(4 mm) at M2 and crenulated at the veins proximally, where it is edged in black; subbasal band inclined more distad than Orecta lycidas;
stigma large (3mm in length), black, teardrop-shaped with the point toward the costal margin; fringes dark brown.
Forewing underside dark yellow; marginal band distinct, ash-grey, less crenulated than on upperside; stigma conspicuous; light brown apical patch
between Rs3 and Rs4; inner edge below CuA2 yellow-brown.
Hindwing upperside median band faint, extending to the middle of costa; submarginal band narrow, incomplete, extending as far as M1; marginal band very
narrow, dark brown; anal area dark brown extending half way along inner margin, enclosing two transparent spots; fringes white.
Hindwing underside dark yellow with faint postmedian and submarginal bands; transparent spot in anal area conspicuous."
