Jevgenij writes, "For my dear mother I gift the name of this hybrid in her honor Actias Natalia. As a result of more than ten years of practical attempts, in June 2022 I managed to get this hybrid combination of Actias, which is one of the most difficult."
New: December 2004: Dominique Ades has just sent me many photographs of hybrid pairings and larval and adult moth images
as well as some of his notes. I have created a special section.
Greg Bingaman, April 2024 has recently sent me the following hybrids:
C. promethea m X Samia cynthia f
this result is discussed in the lepsoc paper C. angulifera X cynthia. (Bingaman/Piegler) Proved from 1903 publications. It has been argued since then, that the female cynthia was re-paired to a male cynthia.
This most current female was confined and only paired to promethea♂, proving those 120 year old accounts are accurate (or at least possible); only 3 ova hatched. fed on P. serotina. The female is barren.
D. rubicunda m X A. virginiensis f larvae and parent/hybrid comparison (NEW). Female pupae were produced but failed to emerge. Larvae are variable.
A. sumatrana m X A. frithi f . Pair and larvae (NEW). Females proved fertile... original ova compliments of Martin Finney.
A. isabellae m X sinensis f (reciprocal) male and larvae (missing from link)
