Heliconisa pagenstecheri (Geyer, 1835)

HELICONISA WALKER, 1855

The genus Heliconisa belongs to the Hemileucini Tribe of Subfamily Hemileucinae in the Saturniidae Family. Sexual dimorphism is great. The males quickly lose their white scales in daytime flight and are usually captured with translucent wings.

Larvae have urticating spines and feed on grasses.

The species pagenstecheri (Geyer, 1835) is the only member of this genus.
