The genus Manodirphia belongs to the Hemileucini Tribe of Subfamily Hemileucinae in the Saturniidae Family. Larvae have urticating spines, and the sole member of this genus to date (2013), (Manodirphia manes) is found in Mexico.
This species was previously included in the Paradirphia genus and was originally described in the Ormiscodes genus, but DNA barcoding analysis indicates as separate genus is warranted.
