PROHYLESIA OF THE WORLD

PROHYLESIA DRAUDT, 1929

The genus Prohylesia belongs to the Hemileucini Tribe of Subfamily Hemileucinae in the Saturniidae Family. Larvae have urticating spines, and members of this genus are found in South America and Central America.

Moths fly even on bright, moonlit nights, but activity seems confined on all nights to 1.5 to 2 hours sometime between 9:00pm and midnight.

Larvae from this genus probably feed on bamboo species.
