DISTRIBUTION:

Adafroptilum coccineum (wingspan: males: 51-54mm; females: probably larger) flies in
Zambia: Lusaka Province: Rufunsa Ranch WMA, at elevations of 3730 feet.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Moths are on the wing in December. There are probably additional flight months.

Adafroptilum coccineum larval hosts are unknown.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

EGGS, LARVAE, PUPAE, COCOONS:

Eggs are deposited

Larvae probably descend the host plant at pupation time and spin up a thin cocoon at the base of hostplants.

The species name, coccineum is indicative of the costa in the median area being carmine red-brown.
