DISTRIBUTION:

Antheraea frithi tonkinensis (wingspan: males: ; females: 145mm) flies in
Vietnam.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Martin Finney reports, June 17, 2012, "I've been feeding the larvae on Betula pendula, silver birch. All the larvae have now spun up, just waiting for the moths to emerge.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the tip of their abdomens to "call" the males. Males use their antennae to hone in on the airbourne pheromone.

OVA, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larvae of Antheraea frithi resemble others of the genus Antheraea.
