(Etymology: dedicated to Dr. Jeremy D. HOLLOWAY, Dorking/London, United Kingdom.)
This moth has a dark orangey-brown ground colour. The forewing apex is produced but not as elongate as in A. rosemarie. The hindwing postdiscal and submarginal fasciae are nearly straight as opposed to lunulate in similar species. The forewing postmedian fascia runs through the outward half of the ocellus. The hindwing ocellus is nearly devoid of the helferi group characteristic eyelid.
Antheraea hollowayi verso; right side copied to left by Bill Oehlke
First instar larvae of Antheraea hollowayi probably resemble others of the genus Antheraea belonging to the helferi group: yamamai, superba (possibly a junior synonym of titan), diehli, rosemarie, halconensis, pratti, cihangiri and helferi. These moths have a characteristic wing pattern.
Larval Food PlantsIt is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
