DISTRIBUTION:
The Adafroptilum singularum moth
(wingspan: males 52mm; females: probably larger) flies in northern
Malawi, Africa.
The ground colour is a light rosy-brown that is much darker in
the median area. On the forewing the am line is thin but visible and
bends one third of the way down from the costa to intersect the inner
margin at a right angle. The pm line is well marked and clearly
separates the darker median area from the much paler marginal area.
There are three linear "points of light", outwardly edged in dark grey.
The lowest point is the smallest.
There are three tiny "points of light" on a uniformly coloured hindwing.
The points are non-linear and have a dark outline. The pm line is
well marked; the am line is non-existent.
FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:
Moths have been observed in August and in December suggesting at
least two broods.
Adafroptilum singularum larval hosts are unknown.

Larval Food Plants
It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common
name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive.
Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
