DISTRIBUTION:

Asthenidia stricturaria (wingspan: males: 49mm; females: ??) flies in
Brazil;
Colombia;
northeastern Peru: Loreto (SS); and
French Guiana: Barrage Petit Saut.

In some taxonomies, the Oxyteninae are treated as a subfamily of Oxytenidae rather than as a subfamily of Saturniidae.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Asthenidia stricturaria probably broods continuously. There are reports of a July flight in French Guiana. If my id is correct at the top of the page, there is a September flight in Loreto, Peru, as well as a June flight in the same area.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Like the other Oxyteninae, Asthenidia larvae have sticky glands on all body segments.

Larval Food Plants

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
