DISTRIBUTION:

Cerodirphia avenata flies in
Panama: Chiriqui and
Costa Rica: Alejuela (CL), Cartago, Guanacaste, Limon, Puntarenas, San Jose (IB);
Costa Rica: Cartago: Parque Nacional Tapanti, Rio Macho, 9.703, -83.782, collected by T. Decaens, 2005-08-01.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This moth broods continuously and is on the wing in all months except December-February.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Males use highly developed antennae to locate females at night by tracking their airbourne pheromone plumes.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
