DISTRIBUTION:

Copaxa corralesi (wingspan: males: mm; females: 84mm // forewing length: males: females:49-50mm) flies in
Peru: Cajamarca: Ciudad de San Ignacio, near Cerro El Chaupe, 1800-2200m.

Copaxa corralesi is placed in the Sapatoza Group.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Copaxa corralesi larvae will probably feed upon avocado (Persea americana). The natrual host is unknown.

Most of the Copaxa brood continuously so I suspect corralesi would be on the wing every month of the year. A female has been confirmed in October 2011.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Male Copaxa corralesi moths use highly developed antennae to locate females. It is expected that the males are diurnal as thus far only three females have been collected. The female releases this scent into the air via an organ extended from the tip of the abdomen.

The species name "corralesi" is honourific for collector Arturo Corrales.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larvae and hosts are currently unknown.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the anticiipated foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
