DISTRIBUTION:

The large, opalescent-white Ceranchia reticolens moth flies in southern Madagascar in Ankafana and Batsileo-Land.

Bouyer equates mangiferae, cribrelli, reticolens, mucida and cribricollis with apollina. Rodolphe Rougerie regards C. reticolens as a distinct species. Patrick Basquin reports reticolens as a synonym of apollina, based on DNA barcoding results.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Ceranchia reticolens (verso), Madagascar, on my home computer only.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

The cocoon is large (90mm), resembling a cecropia cocoon. A denser inner cocoon is visible through the soft outer meshwork of lustrous golden silk.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
