DISTRIBUTION:

Citioica rubrocanescens (approximate wingspan: males: 53mm; females: 76-86mm // forewing length: males: 27-29mm; females: 41-45mm) flies in
Bolivia: La Paz; at elevations of 1000-1800m.

This moth is very similar to Citioica anthonilis, dark in colour, but lacking the strong white suffusion on inner edges of pm lines. It is also smaller than anthonilis.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Moths are on the wing in September-October. There are probably additional flight months. Citioica rubrocanescens larval hosts are unknown.

Citioica rubrocanescens female, Nor Yungas, La Paz, Bolivia,
76mm, on my home computer only.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

EGGS, LARVAE AND PUPAE:

The species name, rubrocanescens, is indicative of a dark, grey-brown ground colour.

Larval Food Plants

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the anticipated foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
