Saturnia (Rinaca) lesoudieri

Most recent taxonomies probably place this moth as Saturnia (Rinaca) zuleika lesoudieri. In some cases it may be elevated to full species status as Saturnia (Rinaca) lesoudieri.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Bill Garthe reports an August flight in Vietnam.

Larvae probably feed upon Acer caudatum and Actinodaphne sikkimensis.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the tip of their abdomens to "call" the males. Males use their antennae to hone in on the airbourne pheromone.
