DISTRIBUTION:

Loepa siamensis (wingspan: males: 76-80mm; females: larger) flies in
Thailand: ST: Chiang Mai Province, Doi Inthanon Nat. Park, km 37-38, road N of Chom-Thong, near/around checkpoint 2, 1730 m. Holotype: ZSM. male ?. 28.-31.V.1998. leg. R. Brechlin.

Bold Systems images submitted by Ron Brechlin also report it in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and southern China.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

I suspect this species has multiple broods. The specimens type was taken May 28-31, 1998 by Ron Brechlin. Cissus, grape and Virginia creeper would likely prove to be suitable hosts.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call at night. Males fly into the wind and track the pheromone plume with their sophisticated antennae.

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larval Food Plants

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the anticipated foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.

The subspecies name is indicative of a specimen type from Malaysia.
