DISTRIBUTION:

Lobobunaea vingerheodti flies in Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea, at elevations between 1000 and 2000m.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Lobobunaea vingerheodti moths are on the wing in April, May and June.

Larval hosts are unknown.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Lobobunaea vingerheodti females attract males with an airbourne pheromone.

EGGS, LARVAE AND PUPAE:

The genus name Lobobunaea, is from the Greek and refers to a lobed hill-dweller. The genus specimen type is Lobobunaea phaedusa, males of which have a valve with a subapical lobe. The hindwings are also lobed at the anal angle. It may also be a montane species.

The species name, vingerhoedti is honorific for Eric Vbingerhoedt, a collector of Saturniidae on Bioko Island.
