DISTRIBUTION:

Micragone caliginosa (wingspan: males: mm; females: ) flies in
south eastern Congo: Congo Brazzaville, southeastern Republic of the Congo, possibly all the way to the west coast of of Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the forêt pluviale du Mayombe, Loutembo.

This species belongs to the Micragone agathylla subgroup.

The forewing apex is quite produced. Forewing ground colour is two-toned, with lighter golden brown outside the pm line (slightly darker in upper third), and much darker, grey brown inside the pm line. The marking on the outer edge of the cell is diffuse and pale yellow.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This moth flies in August and probably in other months.

Micragone caliginosa larvae probably feed on Berlinia paniculata, Brachystegia spiciformis and Julbernardia paniculata.
