DISTRIBUTION:

Orthogonioptilum adiegetum pseudadiegetum (wingspan: males: 66-70mm; females: 80mm) flies
throughout Gabon (except near border with Cameroon) and
throughout the Congo.

Thierry Bouyer indicates this is a doubtful subspecies: "O. a. pseudadiegetum is a doubtful subspecies (not verified on series and with contradiction in his [Darge's] description)."

Orthogonioptilum adiegetum pseudadiegetum (nominate O. adiegetum TB) male, Tchimbele, Estuaire, Gabon,

Orthogonioptilum adiegetum pseudadiegetum male (verso) (nominate O. adiegetum TB), Tchimbele, Estuaire, Gabon,
58mm (probably mid 60's in traditional spread position), April 13, 2010, courtesy of Jean-Louis Albert.

Darge indicates this subspecies is more "ocre", (yellow or light brown) when compared to the other subspecies. The forewings are quite falcate and there are contrasting dark markings in the marginal area of the forewings.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
