DISTRIBUTION:
Orthogonioptilum apium
(wingspan: males: 55mm; females: larger) flies in
Gabon: about 70 km west of Lastoursville
in the forests of Abeilles (Ogooue-Lolo)
and Monts du Chaillu (Ngounie, and possibly Nyanga).
Well developed antennae are grey-beige. The ground colour of the body
and wings is an even grey-brown.
The forewings are very falcate. The median area is darker. The am
and pm lines are well marked, and the points of light are ringed with
ochre (yellow). The transverse line is dark.
The undulations of the hindwing pm line are distinct and there are three
distinct "points of light".

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common
name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive.
Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
