DISTRIBUTION:
Orthogonioptilum bernardii
(wingspan: males: 48-52mm; females: larger) flies in
Belinga, (Ogooue-Ivindo) in
northeastern Gabon at elevations
around 700m. It is also reported from Monts de Cristal (Estuaire)
in northwestern Gabon.
The forewing shape is variable, with the outer margin
sometimes nearly straight, sometimes evenly concave.
The apex is always blunt, however.
The ground colour is beige-grey which the am and pm lines separate
from the warm brick red and brown in the median area. There is one
large "point of light" surrounded by two or three much smaller ones.
The hindwing also has one larger "point of light" below one or two
much smaller ones.
