DISTRIBUTION:

Orthogonioptilum brunneum (wingspan: males: 57-68mm; females: larger) flies in Takwa, Ghana; and Yapo, Ivory Coast and Guinea Conakry.

The forewing is very falcate, but the apex is a little blunt. The ground colour is rosy grey-brown to olive brown.

The Natural History Museum lists it as a synonym of prox, but Darge indicates it as a distinct species of the group prox (southwestern Cameroon), infernarum (western Cameroon), bouyeri (Togo), brunneum (Ghana, Ivory Coast).

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This moth flies in March and possibly again in the fall.

Orthogonioptilum brunneum larval hosts are unknown.
