DISTRIBUTION:

Orthogonioptilum ndokiensis (wingspan: males: 44-53mm; females: 64-65) flies in
the Republic of Central Africa: Sangha: Ndoki PN, Mboki.

This moth is in the O. paveci group but should be easy to distinguish due to its small size and reduced contrasting patterns on the male's wings (female quite contrasting). In the male, the basal area is an almost uniform dull yellow-beige, slightly darker brown in its outer half. The male median area is mostly darker brown and the pm area seems somewhat muted by pale grey suffusions.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This moth flies in February-March in southwestern Central African Republic.

Orthogonioptilum ndokiensis larval hosts are unknown.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

To my surprise, the male ndokiensis shows the most uniform colouration and least contrasting patterning on the wings compared to neglectum and paveci, while the female shows just the opposite.

It is hoped that this alphabetical listing followed by the common name of the foodplant will prove useful. The list is not exhaustive. Experimenting with closely related foodplants is worthwhile.
