DISTRIBUTION:
Pseudobunaea vingerheodti
(wingspan: males: 89-93mm; females: probably larger)
flies in
Guinea Conakry,
Togo, and northeast to
Uganda.
Thierry Bouyer indicates
it might also fly in Cameroon,
Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.
Thierry Bouyer writes, "This species is restricted to relatively dry wooded areas south of the Sahara from eastern Uganda (Moroto region) to Guinea
(inluding Togo, RCA, Nigeria)."
Pseudobunaea vingerhoedti male, Guinee Conakry
This is a small, pale member of the genus, and it is easily
recognized by its small size and abundance of contrasting markings.
The forewing cell marking is greatly reduced.
Ground colour ranges from greyish-yellow to orange with grey.
The lines are well marked in grey.
