DISTRIBUTION:

Saturnia (Rinaca) microcaligula (forewing length: ) flies in India, Nepal, Thailand and China.

This moth is now regarded as a synonym of Saturnia (Rinaca) cachara.

(Etymology: it is the smallest species within that group of Saturnia (Rinaca) species which have formerly been associated with the junior generic synonym Caligula, which may no longer be used. The intention was to preserve the name “Caligula” within the group.) In the meanwhile the taxon microcaligula is interpreted as a synonym of cachara.
