DISTRIBUTION:

Saturnia (Rinaca) naumanni (forewing length: males: 44-51mm) flies Vietnam (N) / Tonkin, Mt. Fan Si Pan; 1500 – 1900 m, 22,17°N, 103,45°E. It might also fly in southern China in the provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi.

The species name is to honour of Dr. Stefan Naumann, Berlin, Germany.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

This species probably flies in the fall: October and possibly other months.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the tip of their abdomens to "call" the males. Males use their antennae to hone in on the airbourne pheromone.
