DISTRIBUTION:

Saturnia (Rinaca) pelelaensis flies in Bhutan, E Himalaya, road Thimphu-Trongsa, E of Pele La-pass, 2460 m., Chuserba, 5 km W Chendebji, ca. 90º19'E, 27º26'N.Holotype: ZSM. male ?. 30.X.-04.XI.2008., at elevations near 2460m.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

Adults are on the wing in late October- early November. There are possibly additional flight months, but I expect this species flies only in the fall.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

Females extend a scent gland from the tip of their abdomens to "call" the males. Males use their antennae to hone in on the airbourne pheromone.
