DISTRIBUTION:

Salassa tonkiniana (forewing length: males: 62-75mm; females: 64-77) flies in northern Vietnam.

This species is considerably larger than Salassa paratonkiniana which flies in the same area.

FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:

There are apparently flights in May and August and possibly at other times.

ECLOSION, SCENTING AND MATING:

EGGS, LARVAE, COCOONS AND PUPAE:

Larvae are covered with spine-bearing warts and spin loose cocoons near the ground amongst loose debris.
