Dave T. Rolfe

May 22, 2007 Dave writes, "My name is Dave T. Rolfe. I am celebrating my 50th birthday this August. I am married with two daughters (19 and 12 years old). I am what we in the U.K. call a househusband (my wife is more qualified with degrees etc. and can earn more than me!). We, and four cats and two Cockatiels, live in Northfleet which is in North West Kent in England. I have been seriously interested in Lepidoptera for about 40 years now and for the past ten years or so I have decided to specialise in Saturniidae, Papilionidae and Amathusiidae. I also have a comprehensive reference collection of British moths and butterflies and can sometimes supply surplus specimens.

"My other hobbies include collecting tropical seashells (have about as many of those as I do Leps!), playing guitar and synthesizer, birdwatching, trying to fit everything into my study, and general Natural History. I do the odd bit of lecturing now and again for schools, clubs and societies on leps and shells. I work as a volunteer for the county museum at Maidstone where I am honorary curator of Entomology and Mollusca and also natural history specimen conservator."

Already Dave has sent me some nice additions to the WLSS: Gonimbrasia hoehnelii male and larva, and Rothschildia paucidentata male and female. I look forward to receiving and displaying more of Dave's images in the future.
