Saturniidae of Brazil

As collection data arrives, I will begin to list specifics on the map page and will place specific locations on the map.

Brazil is a very big country and some species are limited to specific areas.

If you are attempting to do identification work and you know the location of your specimens regarding States, then you can substantially narrow your search by visiting Brazil States. Otherwise there is a complete checklist for all of Brazil below.

OXYTENINAE

Arsenurinae

Arsenura armida courtesy of Leroy Simon

Those species and subspecies followed by a "*" are listed by Lemaire in his Arsenurinae, 1980, confirming many internet listings.

An "en" indicates the species is thought to be endemic to Brazil. N, E, S, W have been used to indicate relative geography. No lettering indicates the species is probably widespread or, in the case of A. aidae, unknown.

If you have corrections or additions, or especially images of larvae and/or adults not currently depicted, please forward them to oehlkew@islandtelecom.com
